Job Description
Marketing and relationship manager, Prism the Gift Fund
Salary: Competitive,(full or part-time)
Location: London, W1
This is a 4 month position starting 1 September to cover someone on maternity leave.
We are looking for a self-motivated, driven candidate to build our client base, oversee marketing, represent us at events, and look after clients.
The organisation:
Prism the Gift Fund increases giving to charity by offering a personal service to those significant sums of money. We are a registered charity ourselves and we work with high net worth individuals and foundations to administer their charitable giving. The team is small, efficient and committed to increasing the flow of money into the charitable sector. We work closely with the private sector, in particular with private banks, law firms and accountants.
The Role:
Prism offers the unusual opportunity to work with both the charitable and private sectors. We are a niche organisation that offers clients the high level of service that they expect in the private sector while fulfilling charitable goals. We are looking for someone to take on this role with determination and energy; they will be given the scope to try out ideas and to build the job around their specialities and interests.
As marketing manager, the candidate will be primarily responsible for sourcing new clients and maintaining Prism’s network of contacts. This includes finding opportunities to work with individuals in the private sector who may refer clients to Prism, as well as connecting directly with potential clients. This role relies on face to face contact and personal communication, including networking, arranging and holding meetings, as well as building and maintaining our extensive contacts. The marketing manager must research and attend networking events, seminars, conferences and where possible they should find opportunities for Prism to speak or be represented at such events. Ideally there will be opportunities to arrange and host our own events. The candidate will compile Prism’s quarterly e-newsletters and news updates, as well as monitoring the website and informative/promotional literature. They will also be responsible for publicity, this includes finding opportunities for press articles, interviews with staff or features about our work, and identifying organisations of which Prism should be a member. All other marketing work is included in this role, for instance applying for awards and finding innovative opportunities to publicise our work.
As a relationship manager the candidate will be required to work closely with existing clients, to ensure that their needs are met and requests are dealt with quickly. This involves providing a point of contact for individuals who want to make charitable donations or have enquiries. It also requires the candidate to work as the dedicated relationship manager for specific foundations that Prism administers.
The Candidate:
The candidate must be self-motivated, persistent and organised. The role requires that they both generate and carry out their own work load, so they need to be disciplined and enjoy taking responsibility for their own schedule. However this provides great scope for the individual to be creative and there are few limits on the role. Finding clients requires innovation, lateral thinking and patience; the candidate should constantly be looking for opportunities and researching new areas that have not previously been explored. Prism’s ‘market’ is difficult to access so the role requires that clever and subtle solutions are found to complex marketing problems. The candidate must be an excellent networker with very good inter-personal skills and confidence to represent the organisation. They must be happy working with high-powered contacts and understand the relevance of Prism to these individuals. High quality written skills are important as the candidate will be required to contribute to the newsletter, website and promotional material, as well as writing to clients and other contacts. They must be confident on the phone and in person, talking to people they do not know and promoting the organisation. Computer literacy and experience conducting internet research is also required.
Ideally candidates should have a good understanding of the private sector, particularly the level of service expected by clients. This may have been gained through experience working in the sector, or in a previous role that required relationship management. An understanding of the charity sector would be an advantage but is not essential.
Previous networking experience is necessary, including representing an organisation at events and in meetings. Marketing experience is preferred although not essential.
