Job Description

Have you recently graduated from a media degree?
Are you seeking your big break in journalism?
Could you make up for a lack of experience with enthusiasm, attentiveness and a willingness to get stuck in?
If two or more of your answers are ‘yes’ then this opportunity could just be the start of your rise to fame…

George Media is seeking a U.K. based intern to take on a number of exciting duties and become a key part of our London-based editorial team. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the U.K and Toronto editorial teams—chasing/arranging interviews, copy and layout material.
  • Basic transcription and copywriting
  • Providing staff support at national level events and conferences
  • Contributing off-diary news/magazine specific pieces
  • Feature writing
  • Taking part in weekly editorial meetings (with the international spread of editorial offices and writers) and coming up with innovative new ideas for content

Individuals should also possess the following skills:

  • A confident and polite telephone manner—must be comfortable dealing with international exec/CEO/high level individuals. Senior editorial team members will always be on hand to assist.
  • Ability to help to roll out multiple features across our magazines and manage projects to deadline
  • Some experience working to deadlines
  • Good grammar, a flair for creative writing and some understanding of media law and restrictions on market data (or willingness to learn)
  • An interest in international development, energy and energy markets, green initiatives, CSR and social development
  • The energy and drive to thrive in a fast-paced small (and friendly) team
  • Some ability to decipher industry phrases, abbreviations and stock terminology (or willingness to learn) desirable
  • Any secondary language skills an added bonus (but not essential)

In return for your time and willingness to learn on-the-job journalism skills, you will receive an international network of contacts and experience, a very supportive and progressive team to guide you and a rare opportunity to get your voice and writing out into the world through our young and ever-expanding company. If you have any questions please call or email. Questions are always encouraged.
