Job Description

  • The Project

Volunteer in Bolivia on an Art and Culture Education Project and get involved with promoting the integration of Bolivia’s diverse multi-ethnic cultures through the arts. The project promotes the interaction of artists from different origins and understands that their visitors have different interests.

The project’s artistic and cultural development strategy works through the principles of innovation, research, experimentation and conceptual and formal rigor, promoting intercultural exchanges. Part of this strategy is to push forward educational development through professionals who are active and experienced in a particular artistic sector, once again promoting intercultural development.

The space has been divided into various sections which are each dedicated to an event or activity. There is an environment specifically for workshops, an exhibition hall, a central hall for major events, an audiovisual project room as well as rehearsal rooms and a Culture Cafe. The ‘artistic residence’ is designed to promote exchanges between those on the site at any given time, and the space has enough room to house administrative offices and provide external parking for visitors.

This project also works to aid social development of the local community as it is committed to contributing substantially, to human development through various cultural activities. The centre also offers free art workshops for underprivileged children and for events where a ticket needs to be purchased, children under 8 are admitted free and groups of students from local colleges and universities can enjoy substantial discounts.

  • Role of the volunteer

The project works in a number of different ways; through production, workshops and social development. Volunteers are needed to help develop each area with their own personal skills and drive for cultural development. The centre organises cultural activities such as theatre workshops, video exhibitions, cultural dances and puppetry.

The production centre is in constant use by local artists and cultural ‘creators’. With background production skills, you can help to improve the operations and with technical experience can get involved with various production methods used by local artists, theatre groups and video development teams.

Training and education forms an integral part of the Art and Culture Education Project, and workshops are continuously offered throughout the year for professional and emerging artists, as well as anyone who is generally interested. With an interest in running workshops, you can get actively involved in creative education within the heart of Bolivia.
