A few weeks ago we went in search of student-run blogs to get a feel for whether students were actively engaged in blogging and if so, to then promote our favourites. We weren’t sure of the response we’d receive, but nonetheless we posted a few messages on Facebook and Twitter and sat watching our screens quietly. Lo and behold it took just a few minutes for the responses to start hitting our inbox! So, allow us to present a round-up of 10 awesome student blogs from across the UK.
Before getting into the list we thought it’d be helpful to give a bit of background on the criteria we used to choose our final 10. The criteria were as follows:
- The blog had to be regularly updated
- The blog had to be written by a student(s) or recent graduate
- The blog owner had to be generating the articles (i.e. the site does not aggregate content)
- The design needed to be half decent
- Finally, we were interested in featuring a diverse range of content
The blogs cover fashion, pop, sports, journalism, careers and more. The efforts being made are testament to the creativity and talent we have coming out of UK universities. Thanks for all the entries and we hope that you enjoy reading the blogs as much as we did! The list is in no particular order.

Great List, Tim. How could you find such cool blogs? Each is very impressive and seems to be the result of a unique work; especially The Popscener and News Stash.

Try, try, try, and on trying will be the rule that really must be followed to get a professional in anything.
Informed decision-making develops from a long tradition of guessing and then blaming others for inadequate results.

The Grad Guide Blog has some really useful articles for students. Check out the ones on internships and graduate scheme especially. Another useful website I found for students and school leavers is http://www.workpersonalities.com. The website looks great if nothing else!
