Job Description
Opportunity for volunteer as a translator/proof reader for an international NGO looking at practical market mechanisms to tackle climate change.
The Environmental Investment Organisation (EIO), operates as a London-based, independent not-for-profit body which focuses on using the financial system to advance practical solutions to the climate change problem. The EIO’s mission is to bring about a dramatic reduction in global corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through its Environmental Tracking concept, which rests on our ET Carbon Rankings, ET Index Series and movement building.
The EIO is looking to re-publish its book on the Environmental Tracking concept this Autumn and is aiming to release it in over 100 languages, for which we need translators. Any language, be it German, Indonesian or Welsh is welcome!
The book is around 40 pages long, so the commitment wouldn't be large (potentially between 40-60 hours work for one translator per language, 15-30 hours for a proof reader depending on reading speed). This project would give you invaluable translation experience and a detailed knowledge of the ET concept and contemporary environmental finance.
This is an opportunity for anyone wishing to help build the Environmental Tracking movement and gain invaluable experience translating a published book.
Translators need to be fluent in English and in the target language, translation experience is preferred and a good grasp of economics desirable but not essential.
If you would like to get involved, please email Katherine Belben to register your interest as soon as possible.
