Job Description
We seek an exceptional candidate to join our 20-strong team to manage the 131-hour playlist for our world record silent disco and world record for the world’s longest ever dance. The position is flexible hours through September, moving to full time from 1st to 17th October. The successful candidates can join the Free to Dance team earlier than September if they wish.
| The position would be ideal for students looking for experience in the area, those looking to expand into the third/charitable sector, or a professional looking with time and expertise to give to an energetic, exciting charity campaign. The successful candidates will work as part of our growing World Record Event team and will be managed by our Artistic Director. |
Free to Dance team volunteers work flexibly across the capital – either at our LearnBurma address (Vauxhall/Oval), at home or at a number of public access venues, and all meet together as a team once per week (Thursdays, 6.30-8.00pm at the Institute of Education, WC1H 0AL).
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with key partners responsible for delivering part of the event – particularly Silent Disco London and Stage Electrics/SXS
- Liaising with our Partnerships Manager and the Silent Disco Partners to ensure their 4 hour playlists are organised and appropriate for their slots
- Managing those playlists with an ‘audience participation’ section – whereby individuals or teams request a song to dance to on-stage if they raise a particular amount of money, and make sure their music appears on the playlist at the right time.
- Liaising with 650hours.com to ensure our nomination/voting facebook application is integrated into as many playlists as possible
- Ensuring all playlists meet specific Guinness World Records criteria for our world record attempt
- Working closely with the Technical Team
- Supporting other aspects of the World Record event as needed
- Keeping track of your own tasks, actions and progress, and reporting this to Ben and the team, in addition to attending weekly meetings
Person Specification
- Proven track record/experience in organising and managing playlists and music or dance-based events
- A keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills
- Confident in liaising with a large range of companies, building relationships with them and instilling confidence in them that their needs will be met
- A self-starter with a professional outlook, who works well to deadlines and as part of a busy team
- A problem-solving approach to challenges and a outcomes-driven orientation
- A good communicator
- Able to rapidly build relationships with a wide range of people
- Sympathetic to the cause (Burma) and enthusiastic about our method (dance)
