Job Description
The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture (MF)
This is an exciting opportunity for a new graduate to gain invaluable insight into the field of Human Rights and to develop their understanding of the issues surrounding torture. The MF exists to enable survivors of torture and organised violence to engage in a healing process to assert their own human dignity and worth. We are the only organisation in the UK to specialise in the treatment of torture survivors. We have over 25 years of experience, and over 48,000 individuals have been referred to us for help.
The Opportunity
We will offer training through Fundraising Training Limited’s Fundraising Trainee Programme. We will ensure that you gain hands-on experience in working for a national, medium-sized charity. You will work alongside our service delivery staff at our treatment centre, gaining increased knowledge of the key human rights issues and greater understanding of the therapeutic needs of survivors. In addition, you will receive a thorough induction and ongoing supervision.
Tasks will include:
- Implementation of activity plan to develop relationships with Trusts in portfolio;
- Research into new avenues of potential funding and background research into funders, new statistics and information around MF’s service;
- Drafting and submitting project proposals and reports; and
- Completion of fundraising training.
The Candidate
The successful candidate should be a graduate or graduate student. Given the length of the training programme, we encourage those that can commit to the full six months to apply. We expect the candidate to have: excellent writing skills in English; proven experience in research using a range of resources; knowledge of and/or interest in human rights issues; and solid interpersonal skills.
Location: Finsbury Park, London
Duration: Six months
Hours of work: 21 hours per week
Travel & lunch expenses covered
