Job Description

We seek an exceptional individual to join our 11-strong team to lead the recruitment of key corporate sponsors, enabling Free to Dance to realise its significant potential as a high-profile fundraising initiative.  The position is 8-16+ flexible hours per week on a voluntary basis.  It would ideally suit someone able to commit 2 hours per day, though by arrangement could fit into set days of the week.  Free to Dance team volunteers work flexibly across the capital – either at our LearnBurma address, at home or at a number of public access venues, and all meet together as a team once per week (Thursdays, 6.30-8.00pm).  Volunteers are provided with a pay-monthly sim card and netbook to perform their duties, as appropriate / required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with Ben and other Free to Dance team members to create an effective, time-phased corporate funding strategy
  • Reviewing the Free to Dance corporate funding strategy to date and relevant proposals
  • Identifying and making initial representation to a wide range of potential sponsors, including title, media, technology, product and fitness sponsors
  • Building positive relationships with potential title, media, technology, product and fitness sponsors; pitching Free to Dance as a marketing opportunity and liaising with sponsors as appropriate
  • Negotiating appropriate contractual arrangements between confirmed sponsors and Free to Dance
  • Managing relations between confirmed sponsors and the Free to Dance team throughout the Free to Dance events schedule.
  • Attending weekly team meetings and a short weekly one-to-one meeting with Ben

Person Specification

  • A self-starter with a professional outlook, who works well to deadlines and as part of a busy team
  • A problem-solving approach to challenges and a outcomes-driven orientation
  • An excellent, persuasive communicator, both verbally (in person, to groups and over the telephone) and in writing
  • Able to rapidly build relationships with a wide range of people representing diverse sectors and positions within businesses
  • Sympathetic to the cause (Burma) and enthusiastic about our method (dance)
  • Proven track record in successfully securing corporate backing for projects, businesses, charities, organisations or ventures
