So you’re keen to write for FreelanceStudents – great! We’re looking for students or recent grads to contribute both regular and one-off articles, and don’t worry if you’re not a writing pro. But, why would I want to write for you guys? A good question, and we believe there are many good reasons:
- It will boost your CV.
- You can share your personal experiences, which other students from across the UK can comment on, learn from, and enjoy!
- Your article will get published on our home page. Instant bragging rights with mates.
- You get an online profile that displays background information on who you are, a link to your own website or blog (if applicable), and a list of the articles that you’ve written. Sort of a mini CV. See example.
What we’re looking for:
- Knowledge and experience – especially important as our readership will be budding student freelancers eager to learn.
- Writing for the Web – writing for an online audience is different to writing traditional print publications. Online readers tend to scan articles and therefore we strongly recommend that you make use of headings and lists to maximise the impact of your article.
Example: 7 Essential Tips for Student Freelancers
Example: Feeling the crunch? Welcome to FreelanceStudents!
- Advice on freelancing, useful freelance tools & resources, product reviews (e.g. latest photoshop), dealing with employers, humourous work anecdotes, student related news, “how to” articles – we are looking for posts that will help and educate our student freelancers.
Guidelines:
- Your submission is to be an original work that has not been published elsewhere. Please be careful to credit all sources (as you would with your university work).
- 350 words minimum.
- We reserve the right to edit the article before publication.
- No links to dubious or offensive websites.
- If you are writing an article about a client experience (good or bad), please do not mention any names.
- Not all articles can get published (sorry!) and therefore our editor has the final say. If you’re unsure about an idea then send us an article pitch through our contact form.
Important stuff:
By submitting an article you are consenting to FreelanceStudents being the exclusive publisher of the article online. You may republish extracts online (e.g. on your own website), however the article in its entirety should not be republished elsewhere. You may also republish the article offline in any form (e.g. sell it to a magazine or submit it to a book).
Submissions can be sent to us at support@freelancestudents.co.uk. Please write “Article Submission” in the subject line. We look forward to your articles :-)
