A quick search in Google for “graduate jobs” produces a list of 28,200,200 results. The Internet is a jungle. Where do you start? Usually the non-scientific process of whittling down the many options presented by Google involves avoiding any link that looks remotely freaky.
Examples of web addresses that often, and sometimes illogically, set off the panic button include addresses with dashes (e.g. www.weird-address.com), web addresses that end in “.net”, or when you do finally muster up courage to click on a UFL (Unidentified Freaky Link), the dreaded all-black website of death will get you hitting that back button like your life depended on it.
There is hope. We’ve compiled a list of our top 5 graduate recruitment job websites (i.e. fulltime graduate roles) for you to safely explore. Be sure to bookmark these websites and keep an eye on those deadlines!
Milkround.com
www.milkround.com

Milkround.com is probably “the daddy” of the graduate recruitment websites. The site was launched in 1997 with the initial aim of being a recruitment website that simply linked students and prospective employers together. The site is a now an excellent resource for graduate jobs, student news, and career advice.
Prospects
www.prospects.ac.uk

Prospects is actually part of the commercial trading subsidiary of the Higher Education Careers Services Unit (HECSU) – a body that conducts graduate employment research. Prospects is very similar to Milkround.com, however Prospects really stands out from the field in terms of exploring career options: the “What jobs would suit me?” section has a questionnaire that links aspects of your personality to certain jobs, and if you find a role that interests you, then check out the “Explore types of jobs” section, which provides in-depth role descriptions including salary expectations and a potential career path.
GET (Hobsons)
www.get.hobsons.co.uk

GET is, again, very similar to both Milkround.com and Prospects. The site is clean and easy to navigate. They also produce a handbook called “hobsons”, which has a useful A-Z of graduate recruiters, so look out for this at your careers service.
eFinancial Careers
www.efinancialcareers.co.uk

Not strictly a graduate recruitment only website, but it does have a graduate and interns section. EFinanical Careers is one of the best resources online for those interested in financial careers (e.g. banking, accounting, etc). In addition to job listings from top financial firms, the site also provides news, topical debates, and example online numerical tests often used by recruiters.
guardianjobs
jobs.guardian.co.uk/jobs/graduate

This is the job listing element of the Guardian newspaper. There is a specific graduate section, which usually has hundreds of graduate roles available and often from smaller firms. In our experience we have found that the jobs tend to be geared towards creative and media, education, and sales.

I’ve also found GradFutures (www.GradFutures.com) really helpful in my search. It only lists graduate schemes and jobs and you can search by company or by job!

I love prospects – especially that it actually shows the different jobs that you can do – really helps with researching before going for jobs. Also had http://www.gradplus.com come up in the top 10 google results. Looks pretty good – don’t know how it compares to others though!

Agree – prospects is an excellent resource. This is the first time we’ve heard about gradplus.com, so thanks for bringing it to our attention.

graduate-jobs.co.uk is pretty good too. I think they list jobs for graduates that don’t appear on Prospects as well
Just a thought, anyway. :)
