freelancestudents_newIf you’re a student struggling to secure a full-time job, or an employer seeking talented and enthusiastic temporary staff to help sustain or even expand your business, then this site can help.

Welcome to FreelanceStudents, the new student job board and careers blog. So, you’re probably thinking two things: that there’s already a gazillion student job websites and that blogs are the mind-numbing musings of people who have nothing better to do. We couldn’t agree more. But FreelanceStudents offers something unique, and of real value, especially in these testing times, to both students and employers.

The Idea

FreelanceStudents is an employment market that provides businesses and private individuals the opportunity to hire talented students and recent grads for one-off jobs, short-term projects, and internships. Simple.

And the blog? Our blog is not a blog per se (i.e. a personal diary), but more of a student magazine, and thus we prefer the term “blog articles”. So, unfortunately, you won’t be reading regular stories on the movements of our cat. Instead, the blog will provide candid and useful career advice (not the usual humdrum you read), interesting student-related news, and general light relief from brain-intensive lectures.

The Benefits

Students will benefit by gaining relevant work experience from actually utilising the knowledge and skills gained from their studies, earning money and, as is often the case with much freelance work, the flexibility of working hours.

Employers, who are likely to be small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and private individuals, will benefit by getting access to a large pool of skilled and enthusiastic student freelancers at hugely competitive rates, or for free in some instances.

It’s a win-win situation.

We anticipate that you have many questions, so we threw together some helpful FAQs and created a simple overview of the process here.

Kaizen (a Japanese philosophy for continuous improvement)

Our work is not yet complete. We will be continuously improving the website. However, the blog and the job board are both fully up and running, so go ahead and click, read, comment, explore and apply to your heart’s content. Watch out soon for student forums and other newly added cool features. In the meantime, spread the word, enjoy the articles, and we hope that you find many useful opportunities on the job board.

Shout outs

We’d briefly like to thank those that helped get us to this stage. Firstly, a big thanks to our developers. Secondly, thanks to the breakfast gang for the sporadic cafe meets and their wit and wisdom. Finally, thanks to all those that provided feedback prior to the BETA going fully live!

Your feedback

We’re keen to know your thoughts, so, if you have any feedback or comments then please do get in touch.
